The first slate of student officers were elected to lead the A&M Methodist Student Group for the 1919-1920 school year. In the fall of 1919, First Methodist Church in Bryan had a surplus of $500, which they offered to the Texas Conference to start a Methodist ministry for students at the nearby A&M College. The following spring, a pastor was appointed to lead a 2-point charge consisting of Alexander Methodist Church and the Methodist Student Group at A&M. This was the beginning of the story of Methodists gathering in community in Aggieland.

The decades have seen lots of changes - different leaders, different buildings, and lots of different students. A full-fledged local church, A&M United Methodist, grew up out of this beginning. A&M also looks very different than it did in 1919! However, one thing has not changed: students’ longing to gather in a Christian community where they are known and loved, and where they can grow as disciples and leaders in their faith. This is the story of Wesley.
